SecondSolutions is Online!

Finally after quite some work today I had a moment to finally bring SecondSolutions blog online. It will comes with the Flickr account for sharing Second Life® pictures, and a portfolio for all our customers. I’ll be adding more features in the following days aswell as updates on new products, and services offerd for that lovely virtual world. And for those of you who didn’t knew it SecondSolutions as well as me Lucian Seriman, we have a new home in Ener Hesperus there I placed my castle and it’s also the temporal place for SecondSolutions until we get other spot. I’ll keep you updated.

Lucian is being very modest. He is looking at scripting a very serious competitor to current inworld rental systems. Current systems are very good, tremendously secure, virtually indestructible, but . . . they lack some functionality that would be of tremendous benefit (thus value) to sim owners

the current popular system is pretty easy to use, but it has many features which are not necessary for estate owners. sometimes in an attempt to be everything to everyone, the focused task is a bit mudied by lots of bells and whistles.

there are fundamental things that land owners need to track and I hope a system like that is possible

land owner changes with what region and parcel is involved and current tier status. just those two things are what need to be tracked.

“did my land sell?” “does it have current tier being paid?”

of course that is a simplification. the system would ideally IM and email the estate owner with the name of that agent (av), region name, parcel name, price paid and tier status. IM the current owner, at an estate owner;s set days, before nect tier comes due. IM and email the estate owner on failure to pay tier with information as the that av’s name and region/parcel in question

currently, there is no “neat” way to see if one av sells land to another av, thus losing the opportunity to immediately start collecting tiers from the new owner. in other words, if Bib sells to Sue mid-month, i have no way of knowing this until I see that Bob’s tiers are in arrears. then I need to check the actual land parcel to see if it is still in Bob’s name.

this may sound trivial, but when it takes 12 months to 24 months to just break even on the initial cost of a sim, those slight overlaps make a big difference

good luck second solutions, if you pull this off, you may have a system that sweeps through estate owners like a fire. i would certainly pay a bit more than I do for the current system I have in place. in fact, I would pay significantly more

Thanks Ener, I’m doing my best to make this project and the upcoming ones useful and good tools for all the people in Second Life. I think as you say normally people intends to creat tools for everything with lots of functions and normally this behavior makes they loose the focus on the thing that is the most important for the customers. If it is a tool for estate management it should be focused on that, and starting with a the basic needs and make it grow to cover all the points on the posible needs.

The plan of SecondSolutions will be then to create customer needs based products, so that they have all they need to have a succesful bussines.
